A Back to School Blessing
A Prayer for the Moms
God of new beginnings,
God of stepping out into the wilderness,
God of embracing the unknown,
Be near as we mark yet another ending and beginning,
Bless us with the sacrament of a fresh start.
May we find unexpected gifts in the new rhythms,
Let this be the year of adventure, growth, tenderness, and trust.
May we know that we don’t have to feel ready,
We simply need to show up.
And when the tears fall and the little hands cling to our ankles,
Send your Holy Spirit.
Give us the courage to remember what has always been true,
That we never walk alone,
And neither do our children.
Because new backpacks and bento box lunches are nice,
But what we really crave is Belonging.
To know that our people are going to be ok,
Here in this new space.
Let this be the school year of Emmanuel,
God with us.
