2019 Holiday Gift Guide
It’s here it’s here it’s here!! The holiday season is here, and I am pumped. I’ve been decorating sugar cookies, wrapping gifts, and probably giving our newborn way too much caffeine with all the half-caf almond milk peppermint mochas happening over here. I seriously love this time of year, but it hasn’t always been like this. Somewhere between the magic of childhood and now, so many of us fall into the stress and overwhelm of the holiday nitty gritty. Too many parties and school programs and gifts to buy can quickly take us under, and somehow the holidays fly by again.
Last year I decided to make a change and truly slow down in December. We then found out we were expecting a baby, so slow down I have. It’s not easy or natural for me to ease up on the gas, but God it was so needed. The biggest change I made was being more INTENTIONAL. I decided what mattered to me this time of year and what I was going to let go of.
One aspect that is really important to me is gift buying and giving. I love finding that perfect, unique gift, wrapping it beautifully, and seeing it under the tree. I’m also a spender, so while we’re careful with saving and earning, I still get that high from shopping. I want to savor this experience and not spend the month stressed about money and annoyed with the process.

When you’re too busy to eat
How many times have you walked into the kitchen starving, fully prepared to find something healthy, and somehow wound up with a half-eaten cookie in your hand? This time of year is especially crazy, and while I’m all for enjoying some Christmas sweets, I want to actually ENJOY them, and not just eat them on autopilot. To do that, I keep easy, healthy, delicious food on hand at all times. Even when I’m not breastfeeding, I’m pretty much hungry all the time, so I like to graze throughout the day. Vegan protein powder and bars are a life-saver both for me, and also make fun gifts for my health-conscious friends.
when you’re falling asleep at your computer
Remember all those peppermint mochas I mentioned? Amazing, but only when I’m intentional. Let me explain. A weekly holiday Starbucks drink feels like a special indulgence. A daily one feels stressful - getting there with little kids, spending that much money, consuming that much sugar. I want to keep them fun and special, and so I don’t overdo it and treat my body really well most days.
One way I do that is with my morning drink. I’ll combine a detox tea with an energy fizz stick for even energy that lasts without the crash. I feel clear and ready to take on the day, and I’m obsessed with the flavors. These make a perfect teacher or hostess gift when packed inside a cute Christmas mug.
For the special women in your life
We all have those people in our lives who are impossible to shop for. My husband is like this, and it’s because he’s just so content. He truly doesn’t need new stuff, and while I love that about him 11 months out of the year, it makes December pretty tricky. For the hard-to-shop-for gal pals in your life, you can never go wrong with a little something to make them feel special. Whether that’s something small like fun makeup or a detox face mask, or something super generous like a new skincare line - no one’s passing down some self-care.
